Periodontal Treatment & Periodontal Recall

Teeth cleaning is often the most inadequately performed dental procedure and yet one of the most important in maintaining periodontal health. In our office we give highest priority to this porcedure using specially trained and highly skilled dental hygienists. We use instruments that are specifically designed to efficiently and painlessly scale teeth. We place patients on a recall program according to their needs. Patients love coming for their dental check up and cleaning, often made even more comfortable using music and nitrous oxide.

How Periodontists Protect Your Health

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. Periodontists are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease. In addition, they can perform cosmetic periodontal procedures to help you achieve the smile you desire.

Often, dentists refer their patients to a periodontist when periodontal disease is present. However, you don't need a referral to see a periodontist. In fact, there are occasions when you may choose to go directly to a periodontist or to refer a family member of friend to your own periodontist.

If you value your oral as well as overall health, anytime is a good time to see a periodontist for a periodontal evaluation. Sometimes the only way to detect periodontal disease is through a periodontal evaluation. A periodontal evaluation is especially important if you exhibit signs of periodontal disease.

Microbiology in Diagnostics Periodontics

In recent years a process called Microbiologic testing is being used in our office. This is a very simple procedure to determine the bacteria, specifically in periodontal disease as an aid in the optimal treatment of periodontics.

Diagnostic microbiology may be integrated into periodontal therapy and may even reduce or eliminate the need for surgical intervention and in some situations may effectively control or cure most types of periodontal diseases.
